Short list, made carefully.
We keep the menu small so everything on it is made by someone who is paying attention. Prices include the cup, the plate and however long you need to sit with it.
We roast on Tuesdays, in the room.
One small drum, one roaster, one morning a week. Everything poured here was roasted within the last nine days, and the tray goes out to the counter so you can smell what changed.
- House blend — Workbench No. 4Two washed lots and a natural, built for milk. Sweet, steady, forgiving on a busy machine.
- Rotating single originWhatever the green list gives us that month. Roasted light, brewed on filter, never buried in milk.
- Decaf — Night ShiftSugarcane process, roasted a touch darker so it still holds its own as an espresso.
- Take a bag homeBagged the same afternoon with the roast date written on. Ground for filter, press or espresso at the counter.
Twelve metres of bench, no clock on you.
The back half of the room is laid out for working: two long benches, good light, and enough sockets that nobody has to hunt for one. There is no minimum spend and no timer — just a few house habits that keep it pleasant for everyone.
- PowerSockets every seat along both benches, plus a shared cable tray down the middle.
- LightNorth windows all morning; the reading lamps come on at four.
- SoundRecords until eleven, then quiet. Calls are welcome in the front room, not at the benches.
- Peak hoursBetween twelve and two the benches go table-service, so laptops fold away for lunch.
- Staying onFilter refills are free while you work. Nobody will ask you to move.

The things people ask at the counter.
Can I work here for a few hours?
Yes, that is what the back benches are for. The only exception is twelve to two, when the whole room goes table-service for lunch and laptops fold away.
Do you take reservations?
Not for single seats — the counter runs walk-in. We do reserve a section of the long bench for groups of six or more, which you can arrange through the enquiry form below.
How do you handle allergens?
Printed sheets for every item sit at the end of the counter, and the kitchen will talk any dish through before you order. The bakery shares equipment with nuts and gluten, so we will always tell you what we cannot guarantee.
Are dogs welcome?
In the front room and at the window seats, yes, with a water bowl by the door. We ask that the back benches stay clear so nobody working gets a surprise visitor.
Can I buy the coffee you are pouring?
Whatever is on the bar is on the shelf in 250g bags with the roast date written on. We will grind it at the counter for filter, press or espresso, or leave it whole.
Do you do private hire?
The room is available on weekday evenings after six, for readings, small workshops or a team afternoon. Send the date and rough numbers through the form and we will write back with what the room can hold.
Long bench, or the whole room.
Tell us the date and roughly how many of you there are. We read enquiries between services and write back the same week.
- Groups of six or more on the long bench, any opening day.
- Private hire of the full room, weekday evenings from six.
- Workshops and cuppings for up to twelve, kitchen optional.
